Door Closer Mounting Options: A Buyer Checklist

Buying guide / STEELPLUS

Prepare the installation information a supplier needs to review mounting.

Photograph the opening from both sides

Include the whole upper door area, the frame and nearby obstructions. Record whether the closer will be mounted on the leaf or frame and mark the opening direction. Show glazing, soffits and signs that could interfere with the arm movement.

Measure the mounting zone

Give the usable flat area, frame depth and existing fixing centres. For replacement work, identify whether the old holes must be reused. Request the proposed model’s mounting template and compare it with measured site conditions before any new drilling or preparation.

Compare arm and bracket scope

Regular arm, parallel arm and top-jamb language should refer to an actual installation arrangement, not a universal claim about a housing. Ask which arms and brackets are offered, and whether different mountings change the model’s installation or operating requirements.

Inquiry checklist

  • Mounting side and movement direction
  • Frame reveal and usable mounting area
  • Existing holes and available reinforcement
  • Exact arm, bracket and fixing scope

Send the quantities, destination and drawing references. Availability, dimensions and supporting documents are confirmed for the proposed item or construction.
